Over the past couple years, I have gone to countless spin classes and taken over one hundred classes on the peloton. My favorite form of cardio has turned to cycling since it is a way I can burn calories but also enjoy my time. The biggest question I have is what does spinning do to your legs…. Here are my answers
Indoor spin classes have been the rave for quite awhile now. Something about spinning in place with upbeat music has its benefits on our health both mentally and physically. From its stress-reduction abilities to the fact that an average session burns a whopping 400 to 600 calories, cycling is a serious workout that improves both physical and mental health. Here are some of the top reasons you should add spin classes to your list of workouts. Spinning can be an All in One exercise. It incorporates speed, endurance, power, and combination all in one class. This allows you to push yourself in different ways just in 45 minutes.
Spinning targets specific muscle groups just like any other workout. Mostly within your legs, the biggest muscles are your quadriceps and your glutes. Quads are largely utilized in the pedaling sequence when you push down the pedal. The stronger residence you have on your bike, the more muscle you will be gaining. If you decide to lower your residence and spin faster, you will be more likely to lose fat. Your glutes are primarily used when standing on the bike. Spinning may lift and tone your butt a lot faster than other cardio workouts.
One thing I value the most from attending spin classes is the community that it holds. Everyone wants to be there, and the feeling you get when you are all on the same beat is exhilarating and fun. Riding next to strangers can also act as a competition to push yourself. If your neighbor can ride standing the whole song, so can you. I have fallen in love with Soulcycle because the classes are more than just a form of exercise. I am able to connect with myself and push more than I ever would be able to on my own.
